The Story Behind Sharone’s Cakes
A legacy of creativity, passion, and family.
My name is Sharone Mutch, and I proudly run Sharone’s Cakes with the support of my husband, Peter. Together, we’ve raised two children and now enjoy our four wonderful grandchildren.
My passion for cake decorating began nearly 30 years ago, inspired by my mum, Helen Loder. She was an incredibly talented cake decorator and teacher who shared her love of baking with many students over the years.
I learned directly from Mum by attending twelve of her cake decorating classes alongside a small group of students. During this time, I developed strong foundational skills and discovered a passion that has stayed with me ever since.
After completing the course, I continued creating cakes for family and friends. However, as life became busier, my passion naturally took a step back for a while.
From Hobby to Business

Sometimes, one small moment can change everything.
Around ten years ago, I bought a giant cupcake tin simply because I thought it would be fun to try something new. When I showed it to my husband, he laughed and said:
“You don’t bake.”
Of course, I couldn’t let that go.
So, I started baking—and I quickly fell in love with it again. In fact, within my first year, I created an incredible 185 cakes. As a result, I decided to officially register my cake decorating business.
Soon after, more people began discovering my work. Not only did requests for cakes increase, but customers also started asking for decorating tools and supplies.
More Than Just Cakes

As demand grew, I realised there was an opportunity to support other bakers as well. Therefore, in March 2019, Sharone’s Cakes officially opened, offering both custom cakes and a carefully selected range of decorating supplies.
Today, I create approximately 370 custom cakes each year for customers across Adelaide and South Australia. At the same time, I help hobby bakers, home businesses, and cake enthusiasts find the tools and products they need.
